Welcome to the the China Students’ Club of Boston! Founded in 1934, we are the oldest organization in the United States formed specifically for the study and appreciation of ceramics. Our members come from a variety of backgrounds, including antique dealers, museum curators and educators, auction personnel, authors, students and scholars, and private collectors. What joins us together is a love of pottery and porcelain from around the world. We want to encourage anyone who is interested in attending a meeting or joining the Club to look through our index of information. The Club offers an annual program of lectures, trips, and events. Guests are welcome at all meetings. Our Club lectures (unless otherwise noted) are held at The College Club of Boston.
With great sadness we report the death of Cheryl Robertson, our newly elected Co-President, on July 7, 2013. A memorial service was held for her on Saturday, July 17, at Boston’s Old North Church. Many tributes to Cheryl were given there and at the succeeding reception. She was remembered by her family and friends, as a scholar, in architecture and the decorative arts, and as a mentor. We must now also announce the untimely loss of Grace Yeomans Thaler, our director of publicity and a long-time member, on October 27, 2013.
